    Tarkarli is amongst the premiere destinations promoted by M.T.D.C. Notwithstanding the proximity to Goa, Tarkarli still is one of the most popular beaches in southern Konkan. With the Karli backwaters on one side and the Turquoise blue sea on the other, Tarkarli is the most popular beach in Malvan. Tarkarli beach extends on to Wayari beach to its north and Devbaug to its southern side.

    Chivla beach is a favorite destination for evening stroll of local populace. This long stretch of 1-1.5kms of clean sands between Government rest house on left and rocky jutting on the right is a pleasure-walk. Like all sea-shores one can enjoy the sunset from Chivla beach. During December to February when skies are clear one can see many shades of colours at the time of sunset. Moonlight makes this beach more splendid late in the night and nocturnal walk on this beach is a memory to cherish.

    The main attraction in Malvan apart from the beaches is the famous sea fort of Shivaji - The Sindhudurg fort. Built between 1664-67 AD by Shivaji Maharaj, the Sindhudurg fort has it foundation laid on molten lead. One of the best preserved sea forts Sindhudurg fort has a four kms long rampart with 42 bastions. The ferry to visit the Sindhudurg fort is available from the Malvan jetty which is just two kms from the Malvan town. MTDC trained guides are available to take you on a guided tour of the Sindhudurg fort.
